(You could imagine Truman Capote’s ‘swans’ drinking lapsang souchong in The Club Room.) And indeed, many of its rooms are like Manhattan apartments in the Nan Kempner style: calm and creamy, with fabulous lighting. Low-rise and discreet, forever a touchstone for the Upper East Side, it’s a suave place of assignation. ![]() Distinguished by the passion of its owners, Dina De Luca Chartouni, its every detail is perfect – because their standards admit nothing less. A cool $200,000.) So far, so luxe but if you really want to get away from it all, head to the hotel’s three-floor spa, complete with cryotherapy, saunas and a crystalline pool. And, as an Aman guest, they needn’t worry too much about getting a reservation: only they, and members of this first global Aman Club, have access to the hotel’s gastronomy. Cue dark wood, multiple fireplaces and metallic screens – referencing the design of the Amanjena in Morocco – that shields balcony-bound guests from prying eyes.įoodies among them can head to the hotel’s lively Italian restaurant, Arva, where the freshest produce is served up family-style or to Nama, a Japanese restaurant with its own omakase counter. Here guests are welcomed into the hushed interior, the outside world seems to retreat and the ambient busyness of midtown Manhattan ceases to register.
